Imane Lahrich, the FAC’s North Africa correspondent, represented our organization earlier this month during the first Mediterranean Forum of Young Leaders in the Moroccan city of Essaouira hosted from 2 to 4 October 2015.
This forum’s agenda included discussions on the phenomena of radicalization, refugees, climate change and social exclusion. On these issues, which are shared concerns for countries in Europe and North Africa, forum participants developed a set of recommendations.
The forum aimed to contribute Essaouira by networking its future decision-makers and by offering discussion opportunities on the city’s integration in the Mediterranean space. It was organized by the Embassy of France in Morocco with the Anna Lindh Foundation, plurals Moroccans and the Union of Young Euro-Maghreb. Imane’s involvement in the forum included sharing the FAC’s mission and bringing it into consideration for future development projects in Morocco.
The forum was opened by Jean-François Girault, the new Ambassador of France in Morocco, by Elisabeth Guigou, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, and by André Azoulay, Adviser to His Majesty Mohammed VI. It involved about thirty future leaders and nearly 200 young people from community and civic life in Morocco.
